There are a few differences in the year 3 and year 2. For year 2, the lectures are spread across and the students can be more focus in each and every chapters.
For year 3, the first 2 weeks are intensive lectures conducted by the professors from the university in Australia. They will fly to Singapore to conduct the lecturers - and mostly for part-time, it is every weekdays from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. Mostly, the lecturers will try to end at 10:00pm, but as you know, the lecturers has limited time in Singapore, so they might take a bit longer if they cannot finish in time and for sure, they will start the lecture on 7:00pm sharp. Sometimes, you may even need to come back in Saturday for some courses from morning 9:00am to 5:00pm for lectures.
After the completion of 2 weeks, all the lecture notes are basically covered. Now, it is the time for tutorials and labs. You are advised not to miss these since it is also the time the tutor will discuss with the students for the assignments. The assignments are marked by tutor and in some cases, the tutor will make some agreement on the submission date and type of submission. It is important to know these information.
You can ask and discuss with tutor for any difficulties or lecture notes during that time. But don't ask for any exam tips because they will not tell you or rather they have no idea what the exam paper is. But the tutors will be like your mentor for any courses. For every lectures and tutorials, you need to sign for the attendance. One of the exam criteria is attendance and don't forget to sign.
Normally, each student will take 2 subjects per term and each term is about 2 months. It is kind of rushing and most students will struggle with the deadlines for assignments. If you are part-time student, try not to take so many subjects unless you are sure that you can cope it. The assignments are not so easy and it will take days.
